The KENNAMETAL 6025830 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills in demanding metal-cutting operations. This insert carries the KCU40 manufacturer grade and features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating for improved wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The Trigon (84-degree included angle) shape with DS chipbreaker geometry provides reliable chip control during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The insert measures 4.40 mm inscribed circle, 0.1875 inches thick, and carries a 0.80 mm corner radius. It is a neutral-hand insert compatible with DFTDS-style toolholders.
This insert is intended for production drilling applications in machining centers, CNC lathes, and dedicated drilling machines. It is suited for cutting ferrous materials and alloys where coating performance and edge integrity are critical. The DS chipbreaker is designed for short, manageable chips in standard through-hole drilling cycles. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing environments will find this insert appropriate for medium-duty drilling at moderate to aggressive feed rates.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for DFTDS-style indexable drill toolholders accepting a Trigon insert with a 4.40 mm inscribed circle. No specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Indexable drill inserts are installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing an insert, power down and lock out the machine spindle per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver at the correct seating torque range specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for damage or debris before seating the new insert. Do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide body.
