The KENNAMETAL 5980913 is an indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the EVSC-T style and part of the Beyond Evolution series, this right-hand holder accepts EG0200M02P02 inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. It delivers a fixed groove width of 2 mm (0.079 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 16 mm (0.63 inches). The 1 x 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 152.4 mm (6 inches) suit standard tool block mounting. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in precision turning applications will find this holder well-suited for parting and grooving on steel and other machinable materials.
This toolholder is configured for external grooving and cutoff work in production turning environments. The EVSC-T style holder is typically installed in gang-style or turret-mounted tool blocks on CNC lathes. With a 1 x 1 inch square shank and a shank length of 121.4 mm (4.78 inches), it fits standard tool block bores common in light to medium-duty turning centers. The right-hand cutting orientation positions the holder for conventional front-facing external cuts. Compatible insert EG0200M02P02 should be sourced separately if not already on hand.
Designed to accept EG0200M02P02 indexable inserts. Mount size 1616 and a 1 x 1 inch square shank are compatible with standard tool block bores on CNC turning centers configured for external grooving toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered down and all axes locked before mounting the toolholder. Secure the shank firmly in the tool block to the specified clamping requirements of the machine manufacturer to prevent tool movement under cutting loads. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before initiating any cut. Consult the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and depth of cut parameters.
