The KENNAMETAL 5977638 is a double-end, neutral-cutting indexable cutoff blade designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Beyond Evolution series, this EVBS-style blade measures 32 mm high, 6 mm wide, and 150.25 mm in overall length, with a cutting height of 25.05 mm. It uses a clamp-type insert-holding method compatible with EG0600M06P04 insert style at a 6 mm insert width. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this blade as a precision holder in high-production turning applications where consistent cutoff geometry and blade rigidity are critical.
This cutoff blade is suited for use in production turning environments where parting-off or deep grooving is performed on bar stock, tube, or turned workpieces. The double-end configuration allows the blade to be flipped and reindexed, extending service life between replacements. The neutral cutting direction makes it appropriate for standard right-to-left or center-feed cutoff operations on conventional and CNC turning machines. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking facilities.
Designed for use with EG0600M06P04 series inserts at a 6 mm insert width within the KENNAMETAL Beyond Evolution tooling system. Consult KENNAMETAL tooling documentation to confirm holder and machine turret compatibility before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the blade is seated fully and squarely in the toolholder or turret pocket before clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for blade retention hardware. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
