The KENNAMETAL 5941105 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Beyond Evolution series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Built to the EG-P insert style with a GUP chip breaker geometry, this insert delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.20 mm. The K313 uncoated carbide grade offers a bright finish suited for applications where coating is not required or where sharp-edge performance is a priority. Installation requires a compatible EG-P toolholder. Neutral hand orientation means the insert does not favor a specific cutting direction, giving setup flexibility.
This insert is intended for grooving and light parting in metalworking operations, particularly on materials well-matched to an uncoated carbide grade. The positive 27-degree rake angle and GUP chip breaker work together to promote chip control and reduce cutting forces during shallow groove passes. Typical use cases include groove depth applications within the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm range. It is sized for use in precision turning operations where a 3.00 mm wide groove profile is required. This insert is used by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with EG-P style grooving toolholders compatible with the Kennametal Beyond Evolution grooving system. Confirm toolholder seat size and clamping configuration match the EG-P3 insert format before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, bring the machine spindle to a full stop and lock out the machine per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate torx or clamp key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat and secure the insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification, as doing so can cause insert fracture or toolholder damage.
