The KENNAMETAL 5939458 is a right-hand indexable cutoff toolholder designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the EVSM toolholder style within the Beyond Evolution series, it accepts EG0300M03P02 inserts held in place by a clamp-style insert holding method. The holder delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.63 inches and accommodates workpieces up to 1.26 inches in diameter. At 6 inches overall length with a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank, it fits standard lathe toolposts used in production and job-shop turning environments. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and extended insert life during cutoff operations.
This toolholder is suited for cutoff and grooving applications on small- to medium-diameter bar stock in production turning cells. The right-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for conventional front-facing cutoff on most engine lathes and CNC turning centers. Compatible insert EG0300M03P02 carries a blade width of 0.096 inches, making it appropriate for narrow-groove and parting work where material removal efficiency and surface finish at the parted face are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators in high-volume production and precision-job-shop settings are the primary users.
Designed for use with EG0300M03P02 inserts (insert seat size 3, maximum insert width 0.096 inches) as specified by KENNAMETAL for the Beyond Evolution series EVSM-style cutoff toolholders.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing the insert or mounting the toolholder. Secure the shank fully in the toolpost or turret block to the required clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer specification before initiating a cut. Verify coolant-through supply lines are connected and clear before enabling through-tool coolant flow.
