The KENNAMETAL 5894202 is a solid carbide round turning insert in the RPPT style, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the X700 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted or continuous cuts. The insert features a 10 mm inscribed circle, a positive rake geometry, and an 11-degree relief angle. With four cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent tool life across demanding applications. A screw-clamping hold method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material groups M and S in ISO classification. It fits into the M15, M30, S15, and S20 material grade ranges, making it well-suited for aerospace, medical, and energy sector components where tight tolerances and difficult-to-machine alloys are standard. The T-style chip breaker geometry promotes effective chip evacuation at moderate to high feed rates in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and tooling specialists working in job shops or production environments will find this insert appropriate for high-temperature alloy and corrosion-resistant steel turning.
Designed for use in screw-clamped round insert toolholders accepting RPPT-style inserts with a 10T3M0 size code. Compatible with ISO and ANSI standard toolholder systems. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert size code before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the pocket for wear or debris before seating a fresh edge, and confirm the chip breaker orientation is correct for the programmed feed direction.
