The KENNAMETAL 5892413 is a CNMG543RN-geometry turning insert in the KCP30B carbide grade, designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on steel workpieces. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating sequence of TiN, MT-TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via medium-temperature CVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides two usable cutting edge pairs, giving the operator four total cutting edges per insert. The RN chip breaker geometry uses a chamfered and honed cutting edge style suited to moderate feed and depth-of-cut applications in the C5 and C6 material grade range.
This insert is intended for CNC turning centers and manual lathes where steel is the primary workpiece material. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.2113 inches, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/4-inch insert thickness, it fits CNMG-style KENLOC toolholders that accept a 0.2500-inch hole diameter. It is clamp and pin retained with a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for both right- and left-hand toolholder setups on standard turning, facing, and light boring operations in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the typical end users.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp to ensure repeatable edge positioning. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
