The KENNAMETAL 5876748 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the GOmill 2BN series, designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The tool measures 0.250 inches in diameter with a 0.500-inch length of cut, a 2-inch overall length, and a 0.250-inch straight cylindrical shank. A 30-degree medium helix and eccentric relief geometry combine to stabilize the cutting edge during demanding roughing and finishing passes. The TiAlN/TiN/TiAlN PVD coating adds thermal resistance, extending tool life in abrasive ferrous materials. Single-end, two-flute, right-hand cutting and flute configuration.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and finishing operations. The center-cutting design supports plunging and ramping entry strategies, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath programming. It is a standard-length, single-end tool with no extended reach, no coolant-through passages, and no chipbreaker, making it a direct, general-purpose option for CNC machining centers and manual mills where a compact ball nose profile is required. The eccentric relief geometry also reduces reconditioning cost when the tool is sent for regrinding.
The 5876748 belongs to the KENNAMETAL GOmill 2BN series and is rated for primary workpiece materials Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), and Cast Iron (K) per ISO material classification. It fits any standard 1/4-inch collet, ER collet, or end mill holder designed for a straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel on CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on a two-flute tool.
