The KENNAMETAL 5824521 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the GOmill 4BN series, designed for precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree right-hand helix. The multilayer TiAlN/TiN/TiAlN PVD coating delivers heat resistance and wear protection for extended tool life in demanding ferrous and high-alloy applications. Eccentric relief geometry increases cutting edge stability while reducing reconditioning costs. This is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool suited for roughing and finishing operations and is center cutting for plunging and ramping. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, production machining, and die and mold environments are the primary users.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces across both roughing and finishing passes. Its long-length profile and 1-1/8 inch reach make it well suited for deep-cavity work, contoured surfaces, and profiling operations where a standard-reach tool would lack clearance. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders with a 1/4 inch bore. The GOmill 4BN series is positioned as a cost-effective solid carbide option that supports regrinding to reduce total cost per edge over the tool life cycle.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch collet chucks and end mill holders with a straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Part of the KENNAMETAL GOmill 4BN series; manufacturer catalog number 4BN0250IR112A.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Secure the straight shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder, torquing the retention hardware per the machine tool manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet and holder bore for runout before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine spindle rating.
