The KENNAMETAL 5824405 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Part of the 4CH series, it features a 0.6250-inch mill diameter, a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0200-inch chamfer width, and a TiN/TiAlN (KC633M) PVD coating that extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. With 4 right-hand helical flutes at a medium 30-degree helix and a centercutting design, this tool handles both roughing and finishing passes. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical or horizontal machining centers where tight edge prep and chamfering are required alongside general milling operations.
This end mill is suited for a wide range of milling applications including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. It performs in both conventional and climb milling strategies on steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and non-ferrous metals (N) workpiece materials. The 2.2500-inch length of cut supports deeper passes without tool change, making it practical for production environments where versatility and cycle-time efficiency matter. It ships as a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank for standard collet or shrink-fit toolholding systems.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner chamfer end mill in the KENNAMETAL 4CH series, compatible with standard straight-cylindrical collet chucks and shrink-fit holders sized for a 5/8-inch shank diameter. Also cataloged under KENNAMETAL catalog number 4CH0625IL225A.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before installing or removing the tool. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the collet or set screws per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm coolant strategy matches the application since this tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
