The KENNAMETAL 5697119 is a round carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. Conforming to ANSI code RCMT43 and ISO code RCMT120400, this insert features a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a full 360-degree included angle, making it well suited for continuous and interrupted cutting passes. The KCP10B grade uses a multilayer MTCVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, delivering high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert is mounted via screw-on holding and delivers a positive rake with honed cutting edge style for clean, controlled cuts.
This insert is intended for use in production turning centers and manual lathes across residential and industrial machine shops. It targets medium machining chip breaker conditions, making it a practical choice for general-purpose steel and cast iron stock removal as well as aluminum and non-ferrous work. The round insert geometry allows continuous repositioning across four cutting edges, extending tool life per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a standard screw-on replacement in compatible RCMT-style toolholders used for turning, facing, and boring.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on replacement for RCMT43 round insert toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (P) and aluminum and non-ferrous metals (N). Material grades C3 and C7 apply.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians using the screw-on method standard to RCMT-style toolholders. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified by the toolholder manufacturer for this insert size.
