The KENNAMETAL 5694096 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CNMP432K and ISO designation CNMP120408K, offered in the KCP25B grade. It features a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process — delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness suited to steel and cast iron machining. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. Four cutting edges are available per insert. The K chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style support controlled chip formation across turning, facing, and boring operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for general-purpose turning applications on steel and cast iron workpieces, covering both P and N ISO material groups. The KCP25B grade targets moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it suitable for a wide range of cutting parameters in production turning environments. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring. The KENLOC series insert is held by clamp and pin methods. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO insert standards, making it compatible with industry-standard CNMP-style toolholders used on CNC lathes and turning centers in job shop and production settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for CNMP-style toolholders that accept ANSI size 432 inserts; conforms to ANSI insert code CNMP432 and ISO insert code CNMP120408. Verify toolholder pocket geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert using the clamp and pin method to the toolholder manufacturer specifications; do not overtighten the clamp screw without reference to the toolholder documentation. Inspect the pocket and clamp seat for chips or damage before each insert index to maintain accurate seating.
