The KENNAMETAL 5692729 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert in the SP..X..HP style, designed for use in indexable insert drills across metalworking and machining applications. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert delivers heat and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. The square shape with a 90-degree included angle and a 0.40 mm corner radius provides a stable, repeatable cutting edge. With a 2.25 mm inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.0938 inches (3/32 inches), this insert is dimensioned for precision fitment in compatible drill bodies. The HP chipbreaker geometry assists with chip control in through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use in indexable drill systems that accept SP..X.. style inserts. It is suited to drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. The KCU40 grade is positioned for general-purpose cutting performance with TiAlN coating providing thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The neutral hand designation means this insert does not require left-hand or right-hand orientation, simplifying tool crib management. Insert size designation is 050204. Each package contains one insert; this item must be ordered in multiples of 10.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies that accept SP..X.. style inserts with a 2.25 mm inscribed circle and 050204 insert size designation. Verify drill body seat geometry before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert — do not over-tighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before installing the new insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
