The KENNAMETAL 5653140 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer grade SP6519 and ANSI/ISO designation XELT160512ERD41. It belongs to the XELT series and features a square insert shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a right-hand cutting orientation. The insert is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear performance suited to interrupted and continuous milling. With a positive rake geometry and a D41 chip breaker, it is designed for efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in demanding milling applications. The unit weighs 0.01 pounds. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is suited to both roughing and finishing passes where TiAlN coating life and edge stability are priorities. The insert is compatible with the Kennametal 7792VXE16 cutter series and is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method. Applications include aerospace component machining, die and mold work, and general precision milling in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with the Kennametal 7792VXE16 cutter series. Insert size code 160512 corresponds to the XELT series platform. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and screw torque requirements against the applicable Kennametal tooling catalog before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped, the machine locked out, and all stored energy discharged per facility LOTO procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not over-torque or under-torque. Inspect the pocket seating surface for debris or damage before seating each new insert. Confirm insert orientation and hand designation match the cutter body requirement before resuming operation.
