Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 5641366 is a CNMG432UN indexable turning insert in the KCK20B grade, part of the KENLOC series. It is manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, applied via MTCVD process. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. With 4 cutting edges and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, it is suited for medium to semi-finish turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CNMG toolholders on lathes and turning centers.

This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. It performs across a maximum depth of cut of 0.1691 inches and is held in the toolholder via clamp and pin methods. The UN chip breaker geometry supports general-purpose cutting conditions. It is appropriate for use in both production and job-shop environments where consistent tool life and surface finish on ferrous materials are required.

Key Features

  • CNMG432UN insert style with 80-degree diamond shape and neutral hand orientation
  • KCK20B grade with multilayer CVD coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN for wear resistance on steel and cast iron
  • 4 cutting edges for extended tool life and lower per-edge cost
  • UN chip breaker geometry suited for turning, facing, and boring
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for controlled entry and edge stability
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CNMG120408UN

Compatibility

Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick diamond insert with clamp and pin holding method. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K). Meets ANSI and ISO insert geometry standards.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamp to ensure proper contact with the locating surfaces. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before each insert change to maintain accurate positioning and safe cutting performance.
