The KENNAMETAL 5641237 is a solid carbide turning insert conforming to ANSI code CCMT3252LF and ISO code CCMT09T308LF. It carries a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN — engineered for high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake and positive side clearance geometry. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert. The screw-on holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians operating CNC or manual turning equipment.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) applications. Its KCK20B grade delivers high wear resistance against steel and a balance of wear resistance and toughness against cast iron. The finishing-oriented LF chip breaker geometry targets light material removal rates and tight surface finish requirements. Typical applications include component finishing passes on carbon steel, alloy steel, and gray or ductile cast iron in production or job-shop environments.
Designed for use in screw-on CCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI size code 3252 and ISO size code 09T308. Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron workpiece materials.
Install and index this insert following the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the screw-on clamping screw. Power down and lock out all machine spindles before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care — edges are sharp and the substrate is brittle under impact.
