The KENNAMETAL 5626726 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM Plus series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and stainless steel. The tip carries the KCPM45 grade designation with a fine grain solid carbide construction and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance. The cutting diameter is 23.42mm (0.9220 inches), with a 140-degree drill point angle and a 2-flute helical configuration. The insert geometry is HPG and the insert seat size is 4. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting both flood and MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) delivery. Installers are machining professionals and CNC tooling specialists working in production environments.
This drill tip is suited for drilling operations in steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M) in both production and job-shop environments. Supported applications include standard through-hole drilling, inclined entry and exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The 2-flute, 2-margin geometry with through-coolant support makes this tip well-matched to high-feed drilling cycles where chip control and tool life are priorities. The helical flute and regular spiral type aid chip evacuation in deeper holes.
Designed as a replaceable tip for KSEM Plus series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 4 with the HPG geometry. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and stainless steel (M) per ISO designation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machining personnel following the machine tool manufacturer lockout and energy isolation procedures. Ensure the drill body and insert seat are clean and free of chips before seating the tip; debris under the insert can cause premature tip failure or poor hole geometry. Clamp retention is used for this tip style — follow the toolholder manufacturer torque procedure for the clamping fastener. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and coolant delivery method in use.
