The KENNAMETAL 5626713 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM Plus series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and stainless steel applications. The tip carries the KCPM45 manufacturer grade with a fine-grain solid carbide construction and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The cutting diameter measures 17.5mm (0.689 inches), and the drill point features a 140-degree included angle with a standard point type. Two helical flutes and a 2-margin geometry support stable chip evacuation. A clamp-style insert holding method secures the tip, and through-coolant passages support both flood coolant and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) delivery. This tip is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tool crib personnel in production machining environments.
The KSEM Plus replaceable tip drill system is used in CNC machining centers and drill presses for drilling operations in steel and stainless steel workpieces. The insert geometry code HPG indicates a high-performance grind suited for these materials. Supported application types include standard drilling, inclined exit conditions, and stacked plate configurations. The 2-flute, 2-margin, through-coolant configuration makes this tip appropriate for through-coolant and MQL setups in production runs where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities.
Designed for use with KSEM Plus series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 1. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M). Specific body compatibility should be confirmed against the KSEM Plus toolholder lineup using insert seat size and cutting diameter.
Replaceable tip installation should be performed with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state following applicable lockout/tagout procedures. The tip is secured via the clamp method; use the correct torque driver or key specified for the KSEM Plus body to avoid over- or under-clamping the insert seat. Verify that through-coolant passages are clear before assembly. Tip replacement and body inspection should be performed by qualified toolroom or machining personnel familiar with indexable tooling systems.
