The KENNAMETAL 5591782 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432MP geometry, grade KCM25B, from the KENLOC series. It features a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN — engineered to balance toughness and wear resistance across demanding cut conditions. The insert has a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. Insert length is 15.50 mm (1.2208 inches) and thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch). The MP chip breaker geometry supports both roughing and medium machining operations. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P-grade), stainless steel (M-grade), and superalloys and titanium. The KCM25B grade provides high toughness for steel and moderate wear resistance and toughness for stainless steel applications. The four available cutting edges and negative rake angle make it a cost-effective choice for medium to heavy chip loads on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where insert security and edge stability are priorities.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNMG432 inserts with clamp or pin holding. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNMG432 and ISO insert code DNMG150408MP. Compatible toolholders must accept a 0.2031-inch hole diameter and DNMG-style seating geometry.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw tool specified for the KENLOC toolholder to seat the insert; do not overtighten the clamp screw by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Confirm insert orientation matches the neutral hand designation of the toolholder before resuming operation.
