The KENNAMETAL 5588935 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling applications requiring precise cutting geometry and durable surface protection. This insert features the DFTHP chipbreaker style with an 84-degree Trigon shape, a 17.6 mm (0.693 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1.2 mm corner radius. The KC7140 grade carbide substrate is finished with a PVD-applied TiN coating, which reduces friction and extends edge life in demanding drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metal-cutting environments rely on this insert for consistent performance in through-hole and blind-hole drilling setups.
This insert is sized at Insert Size 110508 and is suited for indexable drill bodies that accept DFTHP-style Trigon inserts. It is appropriate for use in production machining environments including job shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and general metalworking. The 84-degree included angle geometry is well-matched for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a positive cutting action and controlled chip formation are required. The 1.2 mm corner radius provides edge reinforcement to resist chipping during interrupted cuts or when drilling into pre-drilled features.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies that accept DFTHP Trigon-style inserts with an 110508 insert size designation. Confirm drill body manufacturer specifications before installation to ensure correct insert geometry and seat engagement.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before replacing or indexing any insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the tool manufacturer's specified clamp torque — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
