The KENNAMETAL 5548042 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the KCPK30 manufacturer grade with a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3. It follows the LNPU insert style in a rectangular shape with four cutting edges, making it well suited for indexable milling applications where tool life and edge consistency matter. The insert measures 0.6650 inches in length, 0.3937 inches wide, and 0.2740 inches thick, with a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0311 decimal inch). The GE chip breaker geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge style support controlled chip formation across a wide range of workpiece materials. Weight is approximately 0.022 pounds per insert.
This insert is designed for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering material grade classifications C1, C5, and C6 with ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, which is beneficial when machining harder or work-hardening materials. It is suited for use in the Mill 4-15 cutter series and is identified by ANSI code LNPU542SRGE and ISO code LNPU15T608SRGE. Installation is handled by a screw-holding method with a hole diameter of 0.1831 inches. This is a single-sided, right-hand insert sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in the Mill 4-15 cutter series. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials as indicated by ISO material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the mounting screw and follow the machine tool builder's clamping procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and edge engagement.
