The KENNAMETAL 5537430 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI code CPMT2151UF and manufacturer grade KCP25B. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and an 11-degree relief angle. The insert carries a multilayer MTCVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, engineered to deliver moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel and aluminum applications. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and a chip breaker geometry rated for finishing operations, this insert is suited for precision light-cut work in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials including aluminum. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes requiring tight surface finish and dimensional control. The screw-on holding method and neutral hand orientation make it compatible with a wide range of CPMT-style toolholders used on CNC and manual lathes in both job shop and production settings. Grade KCP25B targets the P and N material groups per ISO classification, covering moderate-wear steel cutting as well as aluminum and non-ferrous applications where toughness is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for CPMT2151-style screw-on turning insert seats. Compatible with toolholders accepting CPMT insert geometry per ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code CPMT060204). Suitable for use on steel (P) and aluminum and non-ferrous (N) workpiece materials per ISO material group classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw to seat the insert fully against the pocket walls — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and runout before returning the machine to service, and follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for insert pocket maintenance and screw replacement intervals.
