The KENNAMETAL 5507612 is a WNMG432RN trigon-style turning insert in grade KCP10B, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.1875-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is engineered to the WNMG432RN industry standard geometry. The RN chip breaker and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support controlled chip formation on steel and cast iron workpieces. Six cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron in both roughing and finishing passes where the KCP10B grade delivers consistent tool life. It fits KENLOC-series toolholders designed for WNMG-style inserts. The negative rake angle and neutral hand orientation make it a practical choice for general-purpose lathe work in production and job-shop environments. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards under ISO code WNMG080408RN, giving users flexibility when cross-referencing to metric toolholder systems or international cutting data references.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series WNMG-style toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K). Rated for material grades C3 and C7. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications.
Installation is performed by machining professionals on CNC or manual lathes using the appropriate WNMG clamp or pin-lock toolholder. Ensure the machine is fully stopped and the spindle is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque on the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to maintain proper edge height and cutting geometry.
