The KENNAMETAL 5431070 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG433MN geometry, coated with a multilayer MTCVD CVD system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN under the manufacturer grade KCP10B. The insert measures 0.61 inches in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a versatile cutting profile. Four usable cutting edges are available per insert, making this a cost-effective option for high-volume turning operations on steel and cast iron. The KENLOC series design supports both clamp and pin holding methods.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. It is designed for use on steel (P-grade workpieces) where high wear resistance is the priority, and on aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N-grade) where a balance of wear resistance and toughness is required. The MN chip breaker geometry manages chip flow in these demanding cut conditions. Machinists and CNC operators working on production turning centers or manual lathes will find this insert applicable across a wide range of part geometries.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting DNMG433 (ISO DNMG150412) geometry inserts with negative rake and clamp or pin retention. ANSI insert code DNMG433; ISO insert code DNMG150412MN. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard CNC or manual lathe insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and verify the clamp or pin is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or damage before installing a fresh edge.
