Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 5397488 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM Plus series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and stainless steel applications. The drill accepts an KSEM2300HPGM solid carbide tip with a KCPM45 fine-grain carbide grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The tip features a 140-degree drill point angle, an HPG insert geometry, and a helical flute design with two flutes and two margins. Coolant-through capability supports both flood and MQL delivery. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and metal fabrication shops, as well as maintenance machinists, install and service this tooling system.

This drill is suited for production drilling in steel and stainless steel workpieces, covering ISO material groups P and M. Typical applications include straight-entry drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The replaceable tip design reduces tooling cost by allowing the carbide insert to be swapped without replacing the full drill body.
