The KENNAMETAL 5397385 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for the KSEM Plus modular drilling system. Carrying the KCPM45 manufacturer grade and a fine-grain carbide substrate, this tip delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding metal-removal applications. The TiAlN PVD coating resists heat and wear during high-speed drilling cycles. With a 0.5-inch (12.70 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle, the tip is engineered for precise entry and clean exit in a wide range of ferrous workpiece materials. Through-coolant capability, including MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) support, keeps the cutting zone under control and extends tool life.
This replaceable tip is intended for use with compatible KSEM Plus modular drill bodies in machining environments where steel and stainless steel are the primary workpiece materials. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined surface entry, stacked plate drilling, and through-coolant drilling operations. The insert seat size is C, and the ISO reference number is KSEM0500HPG. It is suited for CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop settings where fast tip changes without full tool replacement reduce downtime.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for KSEM Plus series modular drill bodies using insert seat size C, ISO number KSEM0500HPG. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the carbide tip. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamping tool specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not overtighten by hand or with unspecified tools, as this can damage the insert seat. Verify tip seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
