The KENNAMETAL 5388061 is a solid carbide turning insert with an ISO designation of CNMG120412MN and an industry standard number of CNMG433MN, running the KCP10B grade with a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD. The insert sits in the KENLOC series and features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake angle. The corner radius measures 0.0469 inches (3/64 inch), the inscribed circle is 0.5 inches, and the insert length is 0.5077 inches with a thickness of 0.1875 inches. Four cutting edges are available per insert, making it a cost-effective choice for high-volume turning operations in steel and cast iron.
This insert is suited for roughing to semi-finish turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K and material grades C3 and C7. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style with the MN chip breaker geometry supports consistent chip control across varying depths of cut up to 0.200 inches (5.08 mm). Typical installation uses either a clamp or pin holding method in compatible KENLOC-style toolholders. The insert is appropriate for CNC turning centers and manual lathes in production and job-shop environments and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMG-style inserts with a clamp or pin holding method. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO group P) and cast iron (ISO group K). Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping to achieve proper seating and edge registration. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or feed rates recommended for the KCP10B grade and workpiece material combination.
