The KENNAMETAL 5330699 is a Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) turning insert identified by industry standard number CNGA432S0525MT. It carries a multilayer PVD coating combining TiN and AlTiN in a nano-composite formulation under the manufacturer grade KBH20. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.508 inch length, and a 3/16 inch thickness, it is sized for rigid, high-precision toolholders. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling specialists install this insert in production turning, facing, and boring operations on hard materials.
This insert is designed for machining hard workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material group H, including hardened steels and hard cast irons typically encountered in production and job-shop environments. It seats in KENLOC-series toolholders using a clamp-and-pin holding method. The flat-top chip breaker suits applications where controlled chip flow is needed without a formed breaker groove interfering with the cutting edge. Negative rake and negative side clearance geometry provide the edge strength required when cutting hard, abrasive materials at elevated cutting speeds. Typical applications include finish turning, light facing passes, and boring on hardened components.
Designed for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNGA-style inserts with clamp-and-pin holding. Conforms to ANSI insert code CNGA432 and ISO insert code CNGA120408. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on hard workpiece materials in the H15 and H25 material grade range.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the KENLOC-series pocket and clamp surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain proper seating and prevent micro-fracture of the PCBN edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for this insert geometry, as PCBN edges are brittle under interrupted cuts or excessive radial engagement.
