The KENNAMETAL 5067404 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling applications where precision and tool life are critical. The insert features an 84-degree trigon (DFT) style geometry with a GD chipbreaker, a 6 mm (0.2362 inches) inscribed circle, and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (0.40 mm). The KCU25 carbide grade is applied with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating, providing elevated heat and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. Insert thickness is 0.1160 inches and the overall length is 0.1563 inches. Installation is performed by licensed machining professionals and tool-setup technicians.
This insert is intended for indexable drill bodies that accept DFT-style trigon inserts at insert size 030304. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials across production machining environments, including job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking. The neutral hand orientation and 8-degree relief angle support versatile cutting in a range of workpiece materials. The GD chipbreaker geometry aids chip evacuation in both wet and dry cutting scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting DFT-style trigon inserts at insert size 030304 with a 2.65 mm seat hole diameter.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the drill body fully removed from the spindle and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the clamping torque specified by the drill body manufacturer, as over-torquing can fracture the carbide insert.
