The KENNAMETAL 5067402 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drill tooling systems where precise, repeatable hole-making is required. It carries the DFTHP designation, indicating a DFT insert style with an HP chipbreaker geometry optimized for controlling chip flow in demanding drilling applications. The insert is coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. Key dimensional specs include a 6 mm (0.2362 inch) inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1160 inches, and a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for standard spindle setups.
This insert is used in metalcutting operations on machining centers, CNC lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling machines across general metalworking, aerospace component machining, and die-mold applications. The 84-degree trigon shape and 8-degree relief angle provide a strong cutting edge suited for drilling into steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The HP chipbreaker geometry helps manage chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling scenarios where chip packing is a concern. Installation is handled by machinists and toolroom technicians as part of routine insert indexing and replacement on compatible drill bodies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for drill bodies accepting DFT-style trigon inserts with a 6 mm inscribed circle and insert size 030304. Confirm body specification and clamping pocket geometry before ordering.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the insert pocket. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw for the drill body to avoid seat damage or insert rocking. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
