The KENNAMETAL 4175910 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, designed for both internal and external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the NT2LK insert style with a KCU10 grade carbide substrate and a PVD-applied AlTiN finish, which provides thermal resistance and extended edge life in steel and stainless applications. The insert is configured for left-hand threading with a 60-degree partial profile included angle, covering external pitches from 0.70 to 3.00 mm and 8 to 36 TPI, and internal pitches from 1.25 to 3.50 mm and 7 to 20 TPI. A K-style chipbreaker aids chip control during threading passes. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 4175910 is suited for threading operations on a wide range of materials where a left-hand, partial-profile 60-degree insert is required. It fits Top Notch series toolholders configured for NT-style inserts. Typical applications include external and internal thread forms on turned parts in both light and medium-duty cutting conditions. The AlTiN PVD coating supports dry or minimal-coolant machining scenarios where heat resistance at the cutting edge is a priority.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders accepting NT-style threading inserts. Verify toolholder designation matches the NT2 insert seat size before installation.
Threading inserts are seated and clamped by qualified machinists or CNC operators following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate ranges specified in the toolholder and insert manufacturer's application data.
