Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4151744 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit in the B053A-CPG series, designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It carries a multilayer TiAlN coating and a 140-degree standard point angle, delivering improved tool life and heat resistance in demanding production environments. The 2.2 mm diameter bit measures 66 mm in overall length with a 26 mm flute length, yielding an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for deeper holes relative to drill diameter. A straight cylindrical shank at 4 mm diameter seats securely in standard toolholders. This bit is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup operators working in precision manufacturing, aerospace, medical, and general metalworking applications.

This drill bit is built for applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent hole quality in solid carbide grades. The B053A-CPG series is engineered for use with through-spindle or external coolant delivery, with a coolant-through design that channels cutting fluid directly to the tip for chip evacuation and thermal control. Maximum drilling depth is 22 mm. Diameter tolerance runs from -0.014 to 0.000 mm, making it appropriate for close-tolerance bores in production setups where hole position and diameter consistency are critical. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction in material grade KC7325 for hardness and wear resistance
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating extends tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions
  • 140-degree standard point angle reduces thrust force and improves centering
  • Coolant-through design supports chip evacuation and thermal management at the cutting edge
  • 8xD flute length ratio enables deeper hole drilling in a single pass
  • Tapered web configuration with regular spiral flute, right-hand cut, conforming to DIN 6537K

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and toolholding systems accepting a 4 mm straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537K specification.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine in a fully de-energized and locked-out state before changing tooling. Verify that the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that spindle coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine and toolholder specifications. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 22 mm without retracting for chip clearing.
