The KENNAMETAL 4151213 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication, machining centers, and production environments. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features a 27/64 inch (0.4219 inch decimal) diameter with a 140-degree split point for accurate self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The multilayer TiAlN coating — applied at the tip — extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. At 4.016 inches overall length and a 2.165 inch flute length, this stub-length geometry delivers rigidity and resistance to deflection in short-hole applications. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control in demanding production drilling cycles.
The 4151213 is suited for stub-depth drilling operations in metalworking shops, CNC machining centers, and production drilling fixtures. Its straight cylindrical shank at 0.4724 inch (12.00 mm) diameter fits standard precision collet chucks and drill holders commonly used in vertical machining centers and gang drilling setups. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it a practical choice for high-volume hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tool stiffness and repeatability are critical.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide stub drill for use in precision collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks accepting a 0.4724 inch straight cylindrical shank, per DIN 6537K standards.
Installation of this drill bit is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Secure the straight shank in a matched collet or toolholder to the correct runout tolerance before operation; excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling. Verify coolant-through channels are clear and coolant pressure is appropriate for the application before initiating a drilling cycle. Avoid hand-tightening drill chucks beyond their rated torque, and never use a hammer or mallet to seat the shank.
