The KENNAMETAL 4151188 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in demanding production and maintenance environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, it delivers high hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The 9.00 mm diameter bit features a 140-degree point angle, a tapered web configuration, and a right-hand spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation. At 89.00 mm overall length with a 47.00 mm flute length and a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is sized for rigid, close-clearance setups. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is rated to a maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm (3xD flute-to-diameter ratio).
The 4151188 is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where short, stiff tooling is required to minimize deflection and maintain hole-location accuracy. Typical applications include production drilling in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and similar materials where controlled chip load and thermal management are critical. The stub-length design reduces overhang, making it a preferred choice for high-volume production runs and tight-tolerance work. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this bit.
Designed as an OEM-style stub-length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank toolholders, collet chucks, and drill press spindles accepting a 10.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the KENNAMETAL Series B051A-CPG carbide drill family.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the tool manufacturer recommended clamping depth before applying any load. Verify coolant-through connections are clear and delivering adequate flow before initiating a drilling cycle. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm per pass without a peck-drilling cycle to clear chips.
