The KENNAMETAL 4151176 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, it delivers hardness and heat resistance required for drilling steel, cast iron, stainless, and similar materials at elevated feed rates. The 140-degree point angle reduces thrust and helps center the bit without a pilot hole. At 89.00 mm overall length with a 47.00 mm flute length, it fits tight-clearance drilling setups common on CNC machining centers and screw machines. Two regular spiral flutes with a tapered web provide efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed applications where heat management is critical.
This drill bit is suited for production machining, job shop operations, and automated CNC drilling cycles where stub-length rigidity reduces deflection and improves hole accuracy. The straight cylindrical shank at 10.00 mm diameter seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders without additional adapters. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and DIN 6537K specification make it a recognized standard in European and North American metalworking applications. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision component manufacturing, aerospace part fabrication, and general metalworking.
Designed as a stub-length solid carbide drill bit in Series B051A-CPG, conforming to DIN 6537K, for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet holders, and hydraulic chucks accepting a 10.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling applications within the 8.00 mm to 9.50 mm drill bit size range.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and the tool holder verified as secure before inserting or removing the bit. Ensure the collet or chuck bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerance. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling.
