The KENNAMETAL 4151165 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, this bit delivers extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust force and improves self-centering on entry. At 3.1102 inches overall length with a 7.20 mm cutting diameter, it fits short-reach applications where rigidity and hole quality matter. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining operations. This bit is intended for machinists, tool and die technicians, and production drilling professionals.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where stub-length tools are required for improved rigidity and reduced deflection. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet holders. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry make it a practical choice for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. It follows DIN 6537K specification, which is the standard for solid carbide stub drills commonly specified in precision manufacturing and toolroom work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting an 8.00 mm straight cylindrical shank, within the KENNAMETAL Series B051A-CPG stub drill family.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before cutting. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without adequate support, or using the bit as a reamer. Always confirm coolant flow is active before beginning a coolant-through drilling cycle to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
