The KENNAMETAL 4151145 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit in wire size 2 (0.2210 inches diameter), ground from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN for extended tool life in demanding materials. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. At 2.5984 inches overall length with a 1.1024-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid cutting tool built for high-precision short-hole drilling. Two regular spiral flutes and a tapered web promote chip evacuation while maintaining core strength. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed production drilling where heat management is critical. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tool-room professionals install this bit in CNC and manual drilling applications.
This drill bit is suited for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and hardened materials where a short, rigid tool is required to minimize deflection. The straight cylindrical shank (0.2362 inches diameter, 1.4173 inches shank length) seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Maximum drilling depth is 0.7874 inches, consistent with the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio of the B051A-CPG series. Conforming to DIN 6537K specification, this bit is a direct fit for applications requiring a DIN-standard stub drill geometry.
Designed as a DIN 6537K stub-length replacement drill bit for applications requiring a wire size 2 (0.2210 inches) solid carbide screw machine drill with a straight shank. Part of the Kennametal B051A-CPG series.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-room technicians in CNC machining centers, drill presses, or manual lathes. Secure the straight shank fully in a collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within machine tolerance before drilling. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper support, or re-chucking at an angle. Always follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when using carbide tooling.
