The KENNAMETAL 4151112 is a screw machine length (stub) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding shop and machining applications. Built to DIN 6537K standards, this Size 27 (0.1440 inches / 0.144 decimal inch) bit features a 140-degree split point, a multilayer TiAlN coating at the tip, and coolant-through capability. The overall length is 2.4409 inches (62.00 mm), keeping the tool compact and rigid for short-hole work. Two regular spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently. This bit is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where tight tolerances and tool life matter.
The 4151112 is suited for stub-length drilling applications where rigidity and accuracy are critical, including precision hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.2362 inches (6.00 mm) diameter seats in standard collets and chucks. Maximum drilling depth is 0.5512 inches (14.00 mm), consistent with the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio. The flute length is 0.7874 inches (20.00 mm) and shank length is 1.4173 inches (36.00 mm). The tapered web configuration adds core strength and reduces thrust at the cutting edge.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) shank; compatible with CNC machining centers, screw machines, and drill presses requiring a DIN 6537K stub-length solid carbide drill in the Size 27 wire gauge range (0.1000 to 0.1500 inch diameter class).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank seating surfaces and collet bore are clean and free of chips before inserting the bit. Coolant-through tools require a compatible spindle coolant delivery system; confirm system pressure and flow are appropriate for the tool diameter before operation.
