The KENNAMETAL 4151103 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer TiAlN coating at the tip, this bit delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for drilling ferrous metals, hardened steels, and cast materials at elevated speeds. The 140-degree split point geometry promotes accurate self-centering without a pilot hole and reduces thrust load. At 62.00 mm overall length with a 3.10 mm cutting diameter and a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine spindles. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This drill bit is used in production machining environments where short, rigid tooling is preferred to minimize deflection in shallow-to-moderate depth holes. The stub length body provides added stiffness compared to jobber-length bits, making it suitable for close-tolerance work on CNC lathes, machining centers, and automatic screw machines. Maximum drilling depth is 14.00 mm, and the flute-to-diameter ratio is 3xD. The Series B051A-CPG designation places this bit within a defined family of through-coolant capable carbide stub drills conforming to DIN 6537K.
Designed as a DIN 6537K-compliant stub length carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automatic screw machines equipped with a 6.00 mm straight-shank collet or chuck. Compatible with through-spindle or external coolant delivery systems.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the 6.00 mm straight shank in a properly sized collet or chuck to the tool manufacturer recommended runout tolerance before operation. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is set per machine specifications before initiating a drilling cycle. Handle carbide tooling with care — solid carbide is brittle and can chip if dropped or impacted against hard surfaces.
