The KENNAMETAL 4150770 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. The 12.50 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 140-degree split point for aggressive penetration and reduced thrust in hard materials. A multilayer TiAlN coating extends tool life by resisting heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. Overall length is 124.00 mm with a 77.00 mm flute length and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 14 mm in diameter. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This drill is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
The 4150770 is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it well suited for moderate-depth holes in both manual and CNC setups. The DIN 6537K specification ensures dimensional consistency for shops that standardize to metric tooling. The tapered web configuration adds rigidity at the drill tip, which helps maintain positional accuracy and reduces walking on entry. No through-coolant is required, making this drill compatible with standard drill presses, machining centers, and CNC lathes without coolant-through capability.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 14 mm straight shank, compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes configured for right-hand rotation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety procedures. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck or ER collet holder rated for the shank diameter before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, as carbide is brittle and should not be reinstalled if the edge is compromised. Feeds and speeds should be set according to the workpiece material and machine rigidity; consult the tooling manufacturer cutting data for steel and stainless steel grades.
