The KENNAMETAL 4150721 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding production and maintenance environments. It features a 140-degree split-point geometry, a multilayer TiAlN coating for heat resistance and tool life, and a standard right-hand spiral flute configuration. The bit measures 11/32 inch (0.3438 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 4.0551 inches and a flute length of 2.4016 inches. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users. It is manufactured to DIN 6537K specification for consistent dimensional accuracy.
This drill bit is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous applications including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes in both CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups. The straight cylindrical shank (0.3906 inches diameter) fits standard drill chucks without adapters. It is a high-performance grade tool intended for production use where dimensional consistency and coating durability matter.
Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.3906-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment rated for carbide tooling. Primary workpiece materials listed by the manufacturer include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.
Carbide drill bits require secure chuck engagement and should be used in rigid setups to prevent vibration-induced chipping. Always verify spindle runout before use, as excessive runout will shorten carbide tool life significantly. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this model, so adequate flood or mist coolant should be applied externally when drilling ferrous materials at production feeds.
