Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4150705 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch decimal) diameter, a 140-degree point angle for improved centering and reduced thrust, and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.4688 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard chucks. With an overall length of 3.5827 inches and a right-hand spiral flute design, this drill delivers consistent chip evacuation in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and metalworking technicians are the primary users.

This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. It performs well in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support deeper holes with reduced walking. No coolant-through capability means it is best applied in setups using flood or mist external coolant. It is manufactured to DIN 6537K specification.

Key Features

  • 19/64 inch diameter with a diameter tolerance of -0.0006 to 0.0000 inches for precise hole sizing
  • 140-degree standard point angle reduces centering force and chip buildup at entry
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating resists heat and abrasion during high-speed cutting
  • Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance superior to HSS in hard materials
  • Right-hand regular spiral flute promotes efficient chip removal in through and blind holes
  • Conforms to DIN 6537K specification for consistent geometry and interchangeability

Compatibility

Designed for use in standard straight-shank chuck holders and collet systems accepting a 0.4688 inch (8 mm) shank. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials per the manufacturer specification.

Installation Notes

Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking technicians familiar with rotating tooling safety practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the drill from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet bore matches the 0.4688 inch shank diameter and that the bit is seated to the full shank engagement length before running. External flood or mist coolant is recommended, as this bit does not include coolant-through capability.
