The KENNAMETAL 4150649 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Measuring 5/32 inch (0.1562 inch decimal) in diameter, it features a 140-degree split point and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The whistle notch shank provides secure chuck engagement and reduces slippage under heavy feed loads. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute, this drill is sized for precision hole-making where carbide rigidity and coating hardness are required over standard HSS tooling. Licensed tradespeople and CNC machinists are the primary installers.
This drill is suited for through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The 140-degree point geometry reduces thrust force and improves self-centering on flat and curved workpiece surfaces. With a flute length of approximately 1.42 inches and an overall length of approximately 2.91 inches, it fits standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet holders in benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drill applications where a whistle notch shank is appropriate.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style replacement jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw chucks and collet systems accepting a whistle notch shank in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill bit size range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the whistle notch shank fully into the chuck or collet holder and verify runout before initiating a cut. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive vibration or workpiece movement. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for carbide tooling and the specific workpiece material.
