The KENNAMETAL 4150240 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for precision drilling in metal, composite, and hard-material applications. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating applied at the tip, it delivers extended tool life in demanding production environments. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and minimizes walking on entry, while the regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 7.00 mm in diameter with a 79.00 mm overall length, this bit is designed for high-speed, short-reach drilling operations performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC and manual machine tools.
This drill bit fits standard stub-length drilling applications where rigidity and accuracy are prioritized over reach. The straight cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter and 36.00 mm in length, seating securely in standard collet chucks and drill holders. Maximum drilling depth is 24.00 mm, and the flute length is 34.00 mm. Conforming to DIN 6537K specification, the B041A-CPG series is suited for right-hand cutting operations in ferrous and non-ferrous production environments. Typical use cases include high-volume hole production in shops requiring tight-tolerance, repeatable results.
Designed as an OEM-style stub drill replacement for standard 8.00 mm straight-shank collet chucks and drill holders accepting DIN 6537K geometry in the B041A-CPG series size range of 6.50 mm to 8.00 mm diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard collet chucks or drill holders on CNC machining centers or manual drill presses. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank seating surface is clean and free of chips or debris before tightening the holder to prevent runout. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive overhang or in unstable workholding conditions.
