The KENNAMETAL 4150208 is a solid carbide screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and machining operations. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it carries a multilayer TiAlN coating with a TiN tip to extend tool life and resist heat buildup at the cutting edge. The bit measures 2.5984 inches overall length with a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces thrust force, improves centering, and minimizes walking on entry. A 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank and tapered web configuration make it well suited for high-speed production drilling where accuracy and rigidity matter.
This stub-length drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines handling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and cast materials where a shorter flute length provides added rigidity and reduced deflection. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. It is typically used by machining professionals and tool-room technicians in production environments requiring tight-tolerance bores.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide stub drill bit in the KENNAMETAL B041A-CPG series, compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks accepting a 0.2362-inch (6.00 mm) straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machining technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling per applicable shop safety procedures. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, as carbide drills are susceptible to chipping under shock or interrupted cuts.
