The KENNAMETAL 4150184 is a stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit engineered for precision drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, this bit delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. It features a 140-degree split point for self-centering entry, a 2-flute regular spiral geometry, and a tapered web configuration. The 3.50 mm cutting diameter and 62.00 mm overall length make it well-suited for short, rigid setups. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC technicians on drill presses, machining centers, and screw machines.
This drill bit is designed for high-speed drilling in ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast iron, and other difficult-to-machine materials where a short, stiff tool is preferred to minimize deflection. The stub flute length limits overhang and maximizes rigidity in blind-hole and through-hole applications. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for a 6.00 mm shank diameter. It is well-suited for production environments where consistent hole tolerances are required across high-volume runs.
Designed as an OEM-series replacement and production drill in the KENNAMETAL B041A-CPG series. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Applicable to drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the bit from the chuck or collet holder. Verify shank seating depth and chuck torque per the machine tool manufacturer specifications before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 14.00 mm for this stub-length configuration, as the short flute length limits chip clearance beyond that depth.
