The KENNAMETAL 4149629 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide material grade KC7325 and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit is designed to handle demanding materials including hardened steels and high-temperature alloys. It features a 140-degree standard point angle for accurate entry and reduced thrust, a spiral flute with tapered web configuration for chip evacuation, and through-coolant capability to manage heat at the cutting edge. The straight cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 94 mm (3.75 inches).
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision boring setups in industrial, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking environments. The B053A-CPG series is built to DIN 6537K specification, making it a direct fit for toolholders dimensioned to that standard. The 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and 48 mm maximum drilling depth make it a reliable choice for moderate-depth hole production where dimensional accuracy and tool life are priorities. Machinists and tooling specialists performing close-tolerance work will find the tight diameter tolerance of -0.012 to 0.000 mm appropriate for finish-quality bores.
Designed for use in toolholders and chucks accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank per DIN 6537K specification. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual machines configured for straight-shank carbide drills in the B053A-CPG series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the chuck or toolholder collet is clean and properly torqued to the tool manufacturer specifications before operation. Through-coolant lines should be checked for blockage before use to maintain effective heat dissipation. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 48 mm without retracting and clearing chips.
