The KENNAMETAL 4149625 is a taper length solid carbide drill bit in the B053A-CPG series, designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The bit measures 5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 94 mm (approximately 3.70 inches) and a flute length of 56 mm (approximately 2.20 inches). A multilayer TiAlN coating protects the cutting edge under high-heat conditions and extends tool life in ferrous and hard alloy materials. The 140-degree point angle makes it well suited for work on harder workpiece materials where a steeper point geometry reduces thrust and improves hole entry accuracy. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in production shop environments.
The 4149625 is used in precision drilling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard metals where a taper length geometry provides added rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length bits. The straight cylindrical shank at 6 mm diameter (approximately 0.2362 inches) is compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses. A maximum drilling depth of 48 mm (approximately 1.89 inches) supports typical through-hole and blind-hole operations in production settings. The spiral flute with a regular spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation, and coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone for improved thermal management and chip clearing at depth.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses equipped with collet chucks or drill chucks accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537K dimensional specification.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and spindle stopped. Verify collet or chuck bore matches the 6 mm shank diameter before clamping to ensure concentricity and prevent runout. Follow machine manufacturer torque guidelines when securing the toolholder. When using coolant-through capability, confirm the machine spindle and toolholder assembly support internal coolant delivery before enabling coolant flow.
