The KENNAMETAL 4149609 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit in the B053A-CPG series, designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built to DIN 6537K specification, this wire gauge size 21 (0.1590 inches) drill features a 140-degree point angle, a multilayer TiAlN coating for extended tool life, and coolant-through capability for heat management in deep-hole operations. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides rigidity and chip evacuation efficiency in tight-tolerance work. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and production drilling operators on CNC and conventional equipment.
This drill bit is suited for machining operations in aerospace, automotive, die-and-mold, and general metalworking environments where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The spiral flute geometry with a tapered web promotes chip flow and reduces thrust in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Coolant-through capability makes this bit particularly effective in applications where heat buildup is a concern at elevated feed rates or with difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill for standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.2362-inch straight cylindrical shank, consistent with B053A-CPG series tooling in CNC machining and production drilling setups.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify shank seating depth and runout with an indicator before initiating a cut. Follow applicable machine tool manufacturer guidelines and shop safety protocols when setting feed rates and spindle speeds for the workpiece material.
