The KENNAMETAL 4149258 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features a 140-degree split point and a multilayer TiAlN coating that supports elevated cutting speeds and extended tool life. The 8.40 mm diameter drill runs a regular spiral flute geometry with a tapered web configuration for efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for deep-hole applications where heat and chip buildup are primary concerns. Machinists and toolroom professionals working in CNC machining centers and drill presses will find this drill sized for precision-tolerance production work.
This drill is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cutting direction and straight cylindrical shank suit standard ER collet chucks and drill chucks commonly found in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 49.00 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole operations in short-to-medium depth ranges across general metalworking and production machining applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous metals, conforming to DIN 6537K specification for standard straight-shank drill applications.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet chuck or drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before operation. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and delivering adequate flow before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fracture if run in a damaged condition or in an improperly balanced setup.
